A lot has been going on around these parts lately. Sometimes we feel like life is a distraction from the "work" we are supposed to be doing but we are being constantly reminded that it is central and a part of the the work. First of all, we are very excited to welcome Eliana Grace Fulk into this world. Eliana graced us with her presence (pun fully intended) on April 4th. We rejoice with our teammates, Cody, Michaela and all their children as they welcome the newest member to their family.
Since Eliana was born things, around our house at least, have gone downhill. We have had people continually sick. All of our kids have been sick, our house mate, Misty, has been sick and currently as I write this Kristi is sick with fever, chills, nausea, etc. In the middle of all of this, Israel had a bad prolapse that we couldn't get back in. After a long time of trying to get it back in, we finally stopped for some family prayer. 5 min. later it went back in. That event sparked us to decide and take Izzy down to Kampala for a check up and evaluation. Izzy and I (Kenneth) spent the last 4 days down in the capital. The doctor recommended we look at going home to the States for surgery. We are praying through it all but don't feel like that is the best option right now. Looking back on the last couple of weeks, I am impressed not by the sicknesses and difficulties but by the love and grace of God. He loves to take opportunities to show us his goodness. During the time most of the sicknesses were happening, I was in Kampala. We had Ugandan friends show up at the house to help the women with whatever chores were needed. Our friend Simon showed up and filtered our water, filled our jerry cans, went to town for us and more. Cody came over and helped the ladies with chores and the Fulk kids went shopping for us. Our kids stepped up to the plate as well when Kristi and Misty were sick. Ezra and Zion walked to town with money and did the grocery shopping. I am so proud of them all. Ok, the computer is about to run out of battery so I have to end this. We are thankful for God's ever present care in our lives.
