I don't think I've ever seen a Karimojong family so interested in a baby! They are profoundly grateful, and have tried to show that in several ways.
First they tried to give us three cows. As much as I like fresh milk, I like my life more, and we had to decline. They then decided to give
It was such a blessing to me to see their gratefulness. I hate to say it, but it's a rare thing in these parts. We have also begun to see some possible reasons why God orchestrated this relationship. Most of the people we see with needs are very poor and hard off and no matter how much we give, we cannot meet the need or fix the problem. Achuka's father and uncles appear to own many cows and are definitely warriors. We are hoping to be able to visit their village and continue a lasting relationship with them after baby Achuka goes home. If they have many cows they could be influential people in their village who may introduce us around the area. This could be a huge open door for beginning bible storying and sharing the gospel. Please pray that God will continue to keep this sweet baby strong and healthy as we seek to build a relationship with his family and for the family to have open hearts.
(sorry for the poor picture quality...apparently little fingers got a hold of my camera and left some smudges)
